ELIGIBILITY: Applicant must be a member, or a child or grandchild, of South Shore Fishing Association, as a Member in good standing.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant must reside in the State of Michigan at the time of application.
Applicant must in their senior year of high school, or freshman/sophomore year of college.
Applicant must pursue a course of study at any school, college, or other educational institution.
Applicant must mail their own entry. Please fill out all questions on the application. If not applicable, please mark it with N/A.
Student has maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA in high school and/or college.
DESCRIPTION OF SCHOLARSHIP: The $500.00 scholarship is to be applied toward the expenses of tuition, room and board, fees, books, and supplies. The Scholarship grant is for one year, but recipients may reapply for one additional year. The scholarship award shall be forfeited immediately upon advice from the Dean or other authorized official of said institution, for failure to continue with classes because of misconduct, scholastic deficiency or other disqualifying cause.
Judging will be based on the following: Scholastic: 30% Essay 30% Recommendations 30% Outside Activities 10%
A Complete Application consists of the following items:
Two Letters of Recommendation - (from the principal or counselor of the school, clergyman, professor, or person knowing of the applicant's character).
Transcript of grades (high school transcript if in high school, college transcript if in college).
An essay on how to best preserve the well-being of our local fisheries and fishing community; how fishing has affected your life and how you see it in your future.
Please provide significant facts about yourself such as extra-curricular activities, work experience and future goals on a separate piece of paper.
Completed and signed SSFA Scholarship application.
INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY ELIMINATED
